Maggie Wilson opened up on feeling “broken,” being stressed, and struggling with her weight as she went through “emotional distress” over the past three years.

The TV host-beauty queen bared her mental health struggles via her Instagram page yesterday, May 2, while urging the public to seek help if needed.

“In 2019, I went through one of the hardest challenges in my life emotionally,” she said. “2020 wasn’t any better. I thought things were getting better then I got hit again with more emotional distress.”

Wilson added that COVID-19 lockdowns made coping harder for her, pushing her to seek help and do online therapy. She also acknowledged that she was not the only one who had experienced this amid the pandemic, stressing that there is “no shame” in seeking help.

“You couldn’t really tell by my posts on social media because I was trying to keep things happy and light until I couldn’t take it anymore in 2021. My weight was as up and down because of stress, my skin suffered, I couldn’t sleep, I was so broken. I still am, but I’m putting back the pieces together slowly,” she assured.

Wilson then alluded to an event that happened in the past that gave her anxiety and stress.

“I have serious trust issues because of what’s happened in the past that it gives me so much anxiety and stress. It doesn’t help that other people are also adding more grief, still trying to hurt me and make my life difficult but I’m trying my best to handle it,” she told fans.

Wilson believes that she is now “tougher than ever,” though she does still have her “down days.”

“We just need to [recognize] our mistakes, our flaws, acknowledge them, get help when we need it because no one else can help you if you don’t help yourself first. We make mistakes but what defines us is how we learn from them,” she said. “At the end of the day, we’re all human and no one is perfect.”

Wilson urged the public to love themselves more, recognize their achievements and continue working on being better, emphasizing that everyone is a “work in progress.”

Wilson announced her separation from her husband, real estate magnate Victor Consunji, in September last year. At the time, she stated that there was “no animosity” between them. However, the beauty queen has since revealed she was “refused” the opportunity to spend time with her son last Christmas and denied access to his birthday photos last March.

Last month, Wilson got herself inked with a five-line Sak Yant tattoo in Thailand. It is a sacred hand-poked tattoo believed to protect a person from unwanted spirits and bad fortune.  /ra
