Ana Jalandoni has stressed that one does not harm a person they love following the arrest of her boyfriend, actor Kit Thompson, who is accused of injuring and detaining her.
The actress expressed her sentiment on the alleged assault while showing photos of herself before and after the incident on her Instagram and Facebook pages yesterday, March 18.
“When you love someone, you will never ever harm them. Minahal mo ba talaga (Did you really love them)? This is me saying, you all should be careful out there,” she said.
Jalandoni then thanked those who checked up on her, adding that she would release a statement soon.
Thompson’s management, Cornerstone Entertainment, released a statement about the incident on its Instagram page yesterday, March 18. This comes after it’s initial statement requesting the public to “be mindful of casting judgment based on unfounded reports being circulated online.”
“The Cornerstone Management does not condone any act of violence and profoundly value the dignity of women. We take this opportunity to clarify that our earlier statement was issued with no knowledge of any specific details as we were in receipt only of general allegations. Neither were we privy to any photos of the incident,” it stated.
“In this delicate situation, we subscribe to the sound discretion of law enforcement and allow the wheels of justice to take its course,” Cornerstone added.
Thompson was brought to a police station after authorities received an emergency call saying Jalandoni needed rescuing at a Tagaytay hotel.
According to police, Jalandoni called friends to ask for help, saying that she was detained by her boyfriend inside their hotel room. The actress was then rushed to a hospital to receive treatment from her injuries as Thompson allegedly punched her in different parts of her body.
It is not immediately known whether Thompson has paid bail or is still in detention though police were preparing evidence for the possible filing of criminal charges against the actor, as of yesterday. If proven, Thompson may be charged with violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Law. /ra
