Ruffa Gutierrez looked back at her marriage with her ex-husband, Turkish businessman Yilmaz Bektas, as she marked 10 years since their union was annulled.
The actress recalled her “bittersweet journey” from being a married woman to a single mom by showing throwback moments with her children via her Instagram page yesterday, Feb. 24. She also showed her old Facebook posts announcing that her marriage was officially annulled.
“On this day, ten years ago, my annulment was granted. Thank you Facebook memories for making me remember. What a bittersweet journey it has been,” she said.
Gutierrez then told fans that though some people are no longer in her life, she is grateful for the lessons that she learned along the way.
“I now realize that not everyone is going to stay forever but I still have to keep on going and thank them for the life lessons that made me the woman I am today. No regrets, just love,” she added.
Gutierrez parted ways with Bektas in 2007 and their annulment was granted in February 2012. She has since been a single mother to her daughters, Lorin and Venice, following the split. She has also been open about the abuse she experienced while with Bektas.
The actress said in September 2020 that she had no plans of getting married again since she was content with what she had in life, though she did not close her doors on love. /ra
