Ruffa Gutierrez in ‘platonic’ relationship with her special someone

Ruffa Gutierrez is likening her current relationship with a special someone as “platonic,” noting that the guy is more of a “mentor” to her.
Gutierrez stressed that she and her special someone is not exactly in a relationship yet, adding that she wants to keep things between them private. She shared this in an episode of the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay,” as seen on ABS-CBN’s YouTube channel today, Feb. 3. Though she did not name anyone, Gutierrez hinted that her special someone is running for a government post.
“Walang ganap kasi kung saan-saan umiikot… I think ang masasabi ko now parang platonic siya, para siyang mentor ko. Parang mentor lang ‘yung peg, ako ‘yung estudyante-slash-experiment,” she said.
(There’s nothing happening because [he’s] roaming around. I think for now, it’s platonic, he’s like my mentor. The peg is like he is a mentor to me, and I’m the student-slash-experiment.)
When asked if she wanted to take their relationship to the next phase, Gutierrez said that they are still busy achieving their goals on their own.
“At this point, hindi pa muna, wala pa kami doon. It’s more of like he’s busy achieving his goals and I’m busy achieving mine, and one day, kung magtu-tugma ‘yon, why not?” she stated.
(At this point, not yet, we’re still not [in a relationship]. It’s more of like he’s busy achieving his goals and I’m busy achieving mine and one day, if everything falls into place, why not?)
The actress then talked about how her mother, talent manager Annabelle Rama, approves of and bonds with her special someone.
“Si mommy bet ‘to kasi ibang klase ‘to,” she said. “I think it’s maybe the Filipino way kasi medyo matagal-tagal na ‘kong hindi nag-eentertain ng mga Pinoy. Nakalimutan ko na very respectful, slow [and] steady.”
(My mother likes him because he’s extraordinary. I think it’s maybe the Filipino way because it’s been a while since I entertained Filipino men. I forgot [how they’re] very respectful, slow and steady.)
Gutierrez has been romantically linked to senatorial candidate Herbert Bautista, with Gutierrez previously calling out Bautista’s Twitter page administrator in connection with a post about Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, in November last year.
Though there has been no earlier confirmation from Gutierrez and Bautista about the actual nature of their relationship, fans speculated that Gutierrez was the “beautiful girlfriend” Aquino was pertaining to in Aquino’s own Instagram post. Fans also took note of how Gutierrez appeared to defend Bautista by calling out the administrator instead. Gutierrez and Bautista were also spotted spending Christmas together. JB
