Elisse Joson has confessed that she was once blinded by love when she gave a second chance to a former partner despite knowing he was cheating on her.

The actress admitted this during the virtual media conference for “The Goodbye Girl” on iWantTFC’s YouTube channel yesterday, Feb. 4. Joson was asked if she has ever had similar experiences as her character Julia, who catches her fiance (Josh Colet) having an affair with another girl.

“I think lahat naman tayo may mapagdadaanang gano’n at some point. To a certain extent siguro. Personally, meron din akong pinagdaanang gano’n. Hindi ko na alam kung may confirmation or what,” she answered, opting not to give further details about her experience.

(I think all of us have gone through that at some point. Maybe to a certain extent. Personally, I also experienced something like that. I don’t know if I ever got confirmation or what.)

Joson added that despite the experience, she believes all people “grow out” of being blinded by love.

“You grow out of it. You grow out of [the time] na bulag talaga sa pag-ibig (that you’re completely blinded by love). Honestly, I went through that,” she said.

When asked if she has ever drawn from personal experiences while playing a character, Joson noted that recalling events from her past does not work all the time.

“Depende sa ano’ng kailangan sa eksena (It depends on what is needed in the scene). Sometimes, when I feel like I can use my personal experience, I will use it [to] my advantage,” she explained. “Kung matagal na kasi ‘yung experience na ‘yon, ang hirap nang ipa-resurface so sometimes it doesn’t work.” (If it’s been so long since that experience, it’s difficult to make it resurface, so sometimes it doesn’t work.)

Joson is in a relationship with her fellow “Pinoy Big Brother” alum McCoy de Leon. While the couple introduced their baby Felize to the public in October last year, the actress believes it is not yet the right time for them to tie the knot.

“Hindi natin dapat minamadali ang mga bagay-bagay. Everybody has a different timeline and ngayon nga, it just so happens na nauna si Felize. I think we have so much things we have to deal with first,” she said. “…Alam naman namin na we’re for each other already so we just have to take our time and it’s going to happen.”

“The Goodbye Girl” is an upcoming series starring Joson, Colet, Angelica Panganiban, JC de Vera, Maris Racal and Barbie Imperial, among others. It follows Yanna (Panganiban), who writes a book featuring the various advice she gave to other women who went through their own heartbreaks.  /ra
