Belle Mariano looked back at how singing karaoke helped turn her dream to be a singer into a reality, as she prepares to take on her first-ever concert, “Daylight.”

The actress briefly recounted her singing sessions with friends, which helped in “discovering” her talent, as seen on the virtual media conference for “Daylight” on ABS-CBN Star Music’s YouTube channel last Thursday, Jan. 20.

According to host DJ Jhaiho, Mariano was “accidentally” discovered to be a good singer, thanks to her friends and fellow artists who sang karaoke with her.

“Alam talaga nila na kumakanta ako. Let’s say kapag bibisitahin ko sila sa houses nila or ano, nagkakantahan kami. Feeling ko doon din nila nadiscover,” Mariano said.

(They know that I can sing. Let’s say if I visit them in their houses or whatever, we sing. I feel that’s how they discovered it.)

Mariano then looked back at how her achievements in both singing and acting were only a dream to her in the past while appearing ecstatic over having her first-ever concert.

“Honestly, 10 years ago, siguro hindi ko nakikita [na mangyayari ito] (maybe I would not see this happening). I was just dreaming of this. That little girl was just dreaming of this and now finally achieving and fulfilling her dreams,” she recalled. “Iba talaga ‘yung pakiramdam and I’m just so grateful na nabibigyan ako ng ganitong opportunities.” (It’s a different feeling, and I’m just so grateful that I was given these opportunities.)

“Daylight” is a virtual concert that will be held on Jan. 29 via the streaming platform KTX.

Donny Pangilinan, Mariano’s on-screen partner, is a special guest in the event. The pair worked together in the hit series “He’s into Her” and the film “Love Is Color Blind.”

Pangilinan will be appearing alongside fellow celebrities Kyle Echarri, Jayda Avanzado, Sab and Trisha Denise. The folk pop band Ben&Ben is also expected to give a special performance in the concert.  /ra
