Nadine Lustre has been using her platform to address environmental concerns, as she calls for environmentalism to be included in the school curriculum.

Lustre, who has been active in extending help to supertyphoon Odette victims, is now calling for a collective effort in educating the public on issues concerning the environment, as per her Twitter page yesterday, Dec. 29.

“ENVIRONMENTALISM should be a curriculum in school. Like it should be taught at a very young age [and] continuously so kids grow up being aware and compassionate with everything that coexists with us,” she said.

The actress-singer also spoke about how history is repeatedly being taught in schools, noting that repetition of lessons is a “waste of time.”

“Don’t get me wrong… I learned a lot in school, but I think 6 years of repeated history was a waste of time. Same topic for six whole years.  The only thing that changed were the brand of the books.”

Lustre also agreed with one @donkevinhapal who wrote, “Both environmentalism and history are important. I don’t think it has to be one or the other. [Nadine] is right that we need to be learning more about the environment [but obviously], there’s something wrong also in how history is being taught.” She reposted this while saying, “Both are necessary. I just wish history was taught effectively [and] efficiently.”
