Miss World Philippines 2021 Tracy Maureen Perez has made it to the top 5 of the pageant’s Beauty with a Purpose challenge with her project to help empower single parents.
Perez’s Beauty with a Purpose video, released on Miss World’s YouTube channel last month, featured her retelling her experiences of growing up with a single mother. It also shows her working with an organization in Cebu to provide single parents with health-and-wellness activities as well as livelihood training.
Perez announced that she earned a spot in the challenge’s top 5 while showing her look in the Miss World gala on her Instagram page today, Dec. 15. She wore a pink Louis Pangilinan gown for the said charity night, while her official portraits were taken by Mark Neto Diaz.
“Philippines, we made it to the top 5 of the [Beauty with a Purpose] final round. Miss World Organization will also be coming to the Philippines to fund my project,” she told fans.
The beauty queen then addressed her late mother, Chona, who passed away 11 years ago and is the inspiration behind the project.
“Mommy Chona, this is for you and to all the solo parents out there,” Perez told her mother. “This was all just a dream and now it’s finally happening.
“Thank you everyone for the continuous support! A few more days before the coronation night, lalaban tayo!” she added.
Aside from taking the top 5 spot in the Beauty with a Purpose challenge, Perez secured a spot in Miss World’s top 30 after winning its head to head challenge.
The beauty queen is currently in Puerto Rico to compete in the Miss World pageant. Coronation night will be held on Dec. 16 (Dec. 17 in the Philippines).
Perez is hoping to be the second woman to take home the Miss World crown, following Miss World 2013 Megan Young. /ra
