Angel Locsin may have just made a fan’s holiday season merrier by giving away P20,000 cash as an early Christmas gift.

The actress decided to give a random netizen a cash gift when she realized in her recent vlog that some people might not be able to celebrate Christmas this year amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, she said on her Instagram page yesterday, Dec. 8.

The vlog, released on YouTube last Dec. 2, showed Locsin and her husband Neil Arce making DIY Christmas decorations with event stylist Randy Lazaro.

“While we were making DIY Christmas decors on our last episode of ‘The Angel and Neil Channel,’ event stylist Randy Lazaro shared that celebrating Christmas was not a tradition in their household growing up dahil sa hirap ng buhay nila before (because of how difficult their life was before),” she told fans.

“I admit I felt a bit insensitive. As we were decorating our home, there is someone who might not be able to celebrate Christmas this year,” Locsin added.

The actress clarified that she is not against celebrating the holidays. Instead, she just wants to make someone else’s Christmas a happier occasion.

“I’m a sucker for celebrations and I believe everyone should be rejoicing the birth of Jesus Christ. That is why I wanted to somehow help make someone else’s Christmas a bit merrier,” she said.

Locsin then explained that she looked for someone to receive her cash gift in her vlog’s comments section, stressing that the she simply chose a random netizen.

“[This] person doesn’t need to be a subscriber. Just the first person na nabasa ko ang comment at kwento (whose comment and story I read),” she said while introducing the recipient of her gift, Jenalene Dolloso of Cebu.

“Hiling namin ang mapasaya ka at makapagcelebrate kasama ng iyong mga mahal sa buhay (We wish we made you happy and that you will get to celebrate with your loved ones)!” she greeted Dolloso.

Aside from being an actress, Locsin is also known for her philanthropic work. Amid the pandemic, she was involved in various initiatives that helped provide COVID-19 test kits to underprivileged Filipinos and raised P11.35 million for overcrowded hospitals.

Back in 2019, Locsin was listed as one of Forbes Asia’s “Heroes of Philanthropy,” alongside Filipino businessman Hans Sy and Chinese tycoon Jack Ma. Given this, she expressed hope that her inclusion in the list would inspire people to help as well.  /ra
