Rabiya Mateo fulfills dream of becoming an actress, officially joins GMA
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo has made one of her dreams come true as she joined GMA Network today, Nov. 18.
GMA announced that Mateo is now officially a Kapuso by welcoming the beauty queen on its Twitter page today.
“Miss Universe Philippines 2020 [Rabiya Mateo] is #ProudToBeKapuso. Welcome to GMA Network!” it stated.

GMA executive Annette Gozon-Valdes, meanwhile, showed Mateo in her contract signing with the network on her Instagram Story, also today.

Article continues after this advertisementMateo admitted in an interview with GMA News today that she felt like crying while she was being welcomed to the network.
“To be honest, kanina, para akong maiiyak,” Mateo said. “It’s the joy talaga of fulfilling another dream. Of the trust na ibinigay sa ‘yo ng network to give you projects.” (To be honest, I sort of felt like crying earlier. It’s really the joy of fulfilling another dream. Of the trust that the network gives to you to give you projects.)
She added that she is grateful that the GMA Network saw her potential, even if she is “not that well-experienced” when it comes to acting.
Fans of Mateo first saw her act during “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’s” Halloween special episode “Gabi ng Lagim,” which aired on Oct. 31. She is reportedly preparing for her series debut in the GMA series “Agimat ng Agila.”
Mateo was crowned Miss Universe Philippines last October 2020, and represented the country in the Miss Universe pageant earlier this year, where she made it to the top 21.
She passed on her Miss Universe Philippines crown to Cebu City’s Beatrice Luigi Gomez in September this year. /ra
