Janus del Prado has praised actor Paolo Contis for owning up to his mistakes and apologizing to those affected in his breakup with actress LJ Reyes.

Following Reyes’ interview with TV host Boy Abunda, the actor recently spoke up about the split through social media. He confessed there was a third party involved but denied it was his “A Faraway Land” co-star Yen Santos. He claimed then that he stayed in Baguio for three days and invited Santos for a day in Baguio “as a friend.” Contis also apologized to Reyes and their children, as well as his ex-wife Lian Paz.

“Taking accountability for your action shows what you are really made of. It shows character,” del Prado said.

“You didn’t justify your actions nor retaliate. You welcome the trolls and the haters with open arms as long as they don’t attack anyone else involved,” he added. “You apologized and just let things be. And for that alone, I applaud you. As a friend.”

“Inamin niya naman na he cheated (He admitted that he cheated). It’s about commending him for taking full accountability for his actions,” he noted. “‘Wag natin i-generalize (Let’s not generalize) just because we hate the person. Otherwise, we’re just a bunch of emotional haters trolling the internet for someone to attack.”

This comes weeks after del Prado gave an apology “cheat sheet” to a certain actor named “G,” speculated by fans to be Gerald Anderson. The cheat sheet included tips for someone who wants to apologize, like being sincere and taking full responsibility for one’s actions.

Del Prado revealed he received death threats from fans of “G” after giving the cheat sheet, while also describing the unnamed personality as “playing victim.” He showed the cheat sheet after Anderson expressed hope for Bea Alonzo to forgive him. Alonzo and del Prado are friends.

Meanwhile, Contis’ manager Lolit Solis confirmed last month that the actor has indeed broken up with Reyes. Solis claimed the split was a mutual decision but Reyes refuted this.

Reyes and Contis were in a relationship for six years. They have a two-year-old daughter together, Summer. Reyes also has another child, 11-year-old Aki, with actor Paulo Avelino. JB
