Paolo Contis clears break up with LJ Reyes; says Yen Santos is ‘just a friend’

MANILA, Philippines — Paolo Contis has finally broken his silence on his controversial breakup with ex-partner LJ Reyes.
The actor, in a lengthy Instagram post on Wednesday, addressed the rumors hounding their break up, denying multiple allegations and admitting some.
First off, Contis denied that he was under the influence of illegal drugs and that he hurt his and Reyes’ children. Reyes, herself, also earlier quashed this rumor.
Contis, however, admitted that there was a third party involved in the breakup, but denied that it was Yen Santos, his co-star in his newest film “A Faraway Land.”
“Aaminin ko, naging marupok at g*go ako sa ilang taon naming pagsasama. (I will admit, I have been fragile and stupid in the few years we have been together.) I’m not proud of it. For that, I’m sincerely sorry. I’m truly ashamed of my actions,” Contis said.
“She (Yen Santos) was never the reason of our break up. I was. Kung matagal na kaming hindi okay ni LJ, it was mainly because of me. Masyado niyo siyang diniin sa issue na to. Pati pag promote namin ng movie nabahiran na ng kung anu ano,” he added.
(If LJ and I haven’t been okay for a long time, it was mainly because of me. You put too much emphasis on this issue. Even when we promoted our movie, it was stained with whatever this is.)
According to Contis, he merely invited Santos “as a friend” when Reyes went to the US with their kids. This pronouncement came after photos showing the two together in Baguio, swirled on social media further igniting rumors that Santos is the main cause of the Contis-Reyes break up.
“Naging insensitive ako about the possible effects nung issue and I invited Yen for a day para may makausap since malapit lang siya sa North din,” the actor explained.
(I became insensitive about the possible effects of the issue and I invited Yen for a day so I can have someone to talk to since she was also close to the North.)
“She went there as a friend. Hindi ko naisip na madadamay siya ng ganito. I’m sorry for this,” he added.

Meanwhile, Contis said he wanted to see and take care of his daughter, Summer, but underscored that he understood and respected Reyes’ decision to take their children to the US.
“I was very clear to LJ when I told her I want to see and take care of Summer kahit hindi kami okay. But I understand and respect her decision to go to the States muna,” said Contis
“Sana balang araw makapag usap kami ng maayos para sa bata. Madami pang kailangan pag usapan pero sa amin na lang ni LJ yun at sana respetuhin niyo yun,” he added.
(Hopefully one day we can talk properly for the sake of the child. There’s a lot more to talk about but this is just about LJ and me and I hope all of you will respect that.)
He also defended his showbiz mother, Lolit Solis, and asked the public that she is merely doing what any mother would do.
He then apologized to LJ, their kids, and even his ex-wife Lian Paz — and asked the bashers to direct all the hate toward him.
“I will work on making myself a better person and learning from this. But for now, please respect our privacy and pray for us,” Contis said.
“Ngayon kung hindi pa po kayo pagod, please direct all your hate and bashings at me. No one else deserves it, ako lang. Thank you,” he added.
