Heart Evangelista to those who insist she should get pregnant: ‘It’s my body’
Heart Evangelista stood up to those who have been pressuring her to get pregnant — she stressed that she is happy with her life even if she does not have a child.
The actress expressed how furious she was at people who have been criticizing her for being childless, as per a series of posts in her Twitter page today, Sept. 6. She was responding to some netizens who said her body was being “wasted” because she and her husband, Sorsogon governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero, are yet to have a baby.
“Stop telling me to get pregnant unless you really want to hurt me. Nobody knows the real struggle,” Evangelista said.
She noted that while her life is “good,” she would consider it just a bonus if she does get pregnant.
“People I love are fine and everything else in between is okay, so bonus na lang (so it would just be a bonus) if I do conceive. Again, it’s my body,” she added.

Evangelista also reminded the public that having children is not a requirement for a woman to feel happy and complete.
“I’m not mad, just furious how people think na need mo magkaanak para maging masaya (you need to have a child to be happy). I am already a happy person and grateful,” she said.
The actress urged people to stop “pressuring” her and to inspire each other instead.

Evangelista and Escudero tied the knot in February 2015. The actress was pregnant with twins in 2018, but she suffered a miscarriage and lost both babies. She has since admitted that pregnancy has been a sensitive topic for her.
The couple still plans to have children, Evangelista revealed in a recent interview. She added that they were trying to get pregnant before she started taping for the GMA series “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon.”
According to Evangelista, she and Escudero set aside their plans to conceive in the meantime because the series is a “good opportunity” for their province of Sorsogon. JB
