Macoy Dubs apologizes amid sexual harassment accusations
Social media personality Macoy Dubs (real name: Macoy Averilla) apologized to anyone who may have been “triggered” by his behavior after an old video of himself seemingly groping a colleague resurfaced online.
The old video was one of Averilla’s previous Instagram stories, which showed him with a certain “CJ” in a TV studio. In it, he appeared to have groped his colleague’s private part behind the scenes.
Averilla said he and CJ were simply playing around in the old video, claiming it was not his intention to make CJ feel uncomfortable.
“Magkaibigan kami at magkatrabaho. Naghaharutan [at] nagkukulitan kami sa IG story ko,” Averilla told fans, while also taking responsibility for his “mistake” through his Instagram Stories yesterday, Aug. 31.
(We are friends and colleagues. We were playing around in my IG Story.)

He then stressed that he does not tolerate sexual harassment. (Those actions in the video should not be considered normal. Again, I have clean intentions.)
Averilla also released a video of himself talking about the allegations against him, through his Instagram Stories also yesterday. He claimed he did not touch CJ’s private part.
“This is the truth: hindi ko hinawakan yung private part niya,” he said. “It’s never my intention to harass CJ at sa katunayan po I even asked him if he’s comfortable na ganu’n yung IG story namin. He said comfy siya.”
(This is the truth: I did not touch his private part. It’s never my intention to harass CJ and, truthfully, I even asked him if he’s comfortable that our IG story would be like that. He said he was comfortable [with it.])
According to Averilla, his mistake was he released the video publicly, which prompted viewers to think he harassed his colleague.
He also noted that he had talked with CJ amid the controversy and nobody was “harmed” by the incident, through his Instagram page on the same day.
Averilla told the public to know him personally before they say hurtful words and “false accusations” against him.
