WATCH: Luis Manzano thanks Jessy Mendiola’s dad for trusting him
Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola’s father have nothing but kind words for each other during the father-daughter duo’s sincere virtual talk.
In celebration of Father’s Day, Mendiola yesterday, June 24, shared with fans her and her father Robert Tawile’s first “heart-to-heart” talk in three years, albeit being online.
In the video posted on Mendiola’s official YouTube channel, Tawile shared that he is currently in Bahrain and is “surviving day-to-day” amid the pandemic. He had already gotten his COVID-19 vaccine and even received a booster shot.
Tawile also admitted that he felt bad not being with Mendiola when she got married to Manzano, although the actress assured him that he will have another chance as she and Manzano will be tying the knot again.
When asked what he felt when he found out Mendiola was getting married, Tawile said, “I was happy! I was happy for you, because when you get married, it’s your life.”

“For me, that’s enough. I just want you to be happy, that’s all. So, if getting married with Luis makes you happy, Luis it is,” Tawile told his daughter.
Manzano then joined his wife on the video call and greeted Tawile and told him that he missed him, to which his father-in-law replied with an “I miss you too.”
Mendiola also asked his father for a message for Manzano, prompting the loving father to jokingly point at him while saying, “You! You take care of my daughter.”
“I wish you a long and happy life. Just take care of each other and be happy all the time. Life is short,” Tawile told Manzano.
“We missed you here when we had the wedding,” Manzano then replied.
“Even if we don’t have a child or a daughter yet, I can only imagine how difficult it is for a father to see one of his daughters getting married and that entails a lot of trust, and I am thankful for that tito and I hope to see you very very soon,” Manzano added.
“I hope it too and I wish you all the best and all the happiness in the world,” Tawile then replied as he and Manzano exchanged a virtual kiss.
Mendiola and Manzano tied the knot back in February after over five years of being together as a couple. They got engaged in December 2020.
Tawile is based in Bahrain and runs an events, hotel and restaurant management business, he shared during the said video call. /ra
