Health and safety is everyone’s top priority, especially during these times. With everyone cooped up at home, maintaining good cleaning habits can help prevent the spread of germs. The problem is, some germs and bacteria are just too stubborn and won’t go away easily — especially on some items which are not that easy to clean.

GERMUMUS hiding in plain sight

Though many of us have turned into clean freaks recently, there are still some areas in our home that may require extra cleaning and sanitizing attention. We may not always see it, but germs may be living in these areas without you knowing it.

  • Mattress and bed sheets. A place that offers us comfort and relaxation at the end of the day, our bed can serve as a petri dish of germs and bacteria. Using them everyday and night, a typical mattress has, on average, 10 million dust mites. Changing the sheets and regular vacuuming may help, but it’s not enough to thoroughly get rid of the germs and bacteria hiding in it.
  • Couch and work chairs. Germs, smells, and pests are pretty much present on a couch too. This is where you sit all day since working from home, and your loved ones regularly lounge comfortably at the couch any time of day. So naturally, it is dirty and let’s face it, we don’t really pay much attention to cleaning this other than every other month.
  • Curtains. As one of the most overlooked items in the house to be cleaned, curtains can be a hotspot for germs and bacteria. Apart from the fact that we don’t regularly clean our curtains, germs tend to live longer in these items because it holds on to residual water which may result in mildew and mold accumulation on top of the dust and allergens it catches from the air.

For such hard-to-wash fabrics, the commonly used routes to get rid of germs and other sorts of dirt are:

FEATURED STORIES
  • Hand wash
  • Dry cleaning
  • Vacuum
  • Professional cleaning

But these methods come with certain disadvantages. For instance, hand-washing fabrics take A LOT of time and effort. Dry cleaning and vacuuming, on one hand, consume too much electricity. As for professional cleaning, it means a group of outsiders have to come into your home to do the cleaning — and it’s an added cost.

Downy

Every family can relate to dusty and dirty horror stories. Just like the Pamilya Nunal who are afraid of Germumus. Germs, after all, are like ghosts that creep around the house — you can’t see them, but you know they’re there.

Even Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heusaff get praning over the slightest hint of dust or dirt in hard-to-wash fabrics. However, Solenn knows that she can’t just throw their curtains, carpets, and of course, their couch in the washing machine, so they need an easy and effective alternative to keeping their household germ-free for them, and most certainly for their daughter Thylane.
