Ramirez elaborates on her role in this follow-up interview with her, and befitting recent Mother’s Day, she speaks also of her love for her mom.
Let me say that Sue Ramirez not only exhibits toughness, feistiness and versatility as I have mentioned in one of my previous articles entitled “From ‘Cuddle Weather’ to ‘Mommy Issues,’ Sue Ramirez is versatility personified.” She certainly strikes me as one bright young actress and I believe everyone should know that about her.
Here is my follow-up interview with Sue Ramirez.
Can you name the three special dishes that your family must have on Mother’s Day?
Okay, so number 1. I will elaborate.
The second is her Adobo. I think my mom makes the best, best, best Adobo in the world.
As in every day kahit yun lang ang ulamin ko. And hindi ako magsasawa. And I think my number one favorite that my mom makes for me is her kilawin.
It is really, really that special.
How would you grade your own performance in this movie?
How would I grade my own performance? You know, I think I am shy to grade my own performance. I would rather have you grade my performance for me.
But I think naman with all the efforts that were put into making the film, it is fair naman to say I did a good job.
I believe I did a very good job in doing this movie. And I think it is not only yourself kasi… you are not only looking at yourself, but it is also everybody around you. How you react to each other really matters and that really brings the scene up. Kasi, that is not how I watch films.
I grade the ensemble 100%, each and every one of us. The intention talaga is to really make people happy on Mother’s Day. And it really shows when you watch the movie.
What one line in “Mommy Issues” is meaningful for you on a personal level? What memories or thoughts come to your mind with that particular line from the movie?
Okay, so lagi brini-bring up ni Katya ang edad niya at ang edad ng mommy niya. And she sees this in a different perspective. She sees this as, “Ako puwede ko pa gawin mga ginagawa ko because I’m young. Because I can still do this!”
But I think we should look at it from a different perspective. Like yung mga mommies natin… Yes, they are aging but they are still as beautiful as ever. And whatever they want to do in their lives, I think we should be supportive as they were supportive of us.
