Stand-up comedian and Nora Aunor impersonator Ate Gay, whose real name is Gil Morales, has finally recovered from pneumonia.
The comedian shared the good news on his social media accounts just last Sunday, April 18. On Instagram, he even treated fans with a clip of him singing while lying on a hospital bed.
“Magaling na ako (I am well now). [Thank] you Jesus [heart emoji],” Ate Gay said as he happily performs Adele’s “All I Ask.”
Fellow celebrities have since expressed their relief after hearing the good news. OPM icon Ogie Alcasid, for one, commented on Ate Gay’s post, “Praise God.”
The country’s Queen of Soul Jaya likewise celebrated the comedian’s recovery, saying, “Hallelujah!”
Ate Gay also meanwhile shared before-and-after photos of him during and after his recovery from the disease. On Facebook, the comedian posted photos showing the healing progress of his skin.
“Isa ito sa tiniis ko… na nalampasan ko…. tiniis kong kumain para mabuhay salamat sa lugaw champorado sopas na bumuhay sa akin ng 20 days. [Maraming] salamat Lord,” he said.
(This is one of the things I endured… I overcame… I endured eating [these] just to keep on living; thanks to the lugaw, champorado and sopas that kept me alive for 20 days. Thank you so much, Lord.)
Ate Gay disclosed that he has actually been blessed with a second chance at life now, according to his doctor.
“Nagpagaling nagpalakas… tiniis ko dahil sa kagustuhan kong mabuhay,” he said. (I recovered and gained strength. I endured because of my will to live.)
“[Sabi] ng doktor pangalawang buhay ko na daw ito… buti daw at ginusto kong gumaling,” Ate Gay added. (The doctor told me this is my second life now… he said it was good that I wanted to recover.)
Ate Gay, who tested negative for COVID-19, was first rushed to the hospital on March 25 due to pneumonia but has been seen using a wheelchair as early as March 14, his Facebook posts show. JB
