‘Dito at Doon’ theatrical release postponed over safety concerns

The theatrical release of JP Habac’s “Dito at Doon” has been postponed over COVID-19 safety concerns, although TBA Studios will be pushing through with the film’s online release on March 31.

“The change comes after careful decision among the film’s producers with everyone’s health and safety as their utmost priority,” TBA Studios said in a release yesterday, March 10.

“Dito at Doon,” which stars Janine Gutierrez and JC Santos, was originally slated to debut in Philippine cinemas on March 17.

“We have decided to release ‘Dito at Doon’ exclusively online for the time being.  This was a very difficult decision for the whole team, but one that has everyone’s best interest in mind,” TBA Studios CEO E. A. Rocha said.

“Dito at Doon” is a contemporary love story that tells the story of Len (Gutierrez) and Cabs (Santos), two friends who apparently often annoy each other, as they develop a romantic relationship amid the pandemic-induced lockdown.

Joining the two stars are comedian Victor Anastasio and theater actress Yesh Burce. Gutierrez’s mother, Lotlot de Leon, will also have a special appearance in the film.

“Dito at Doon” is currently participating under the New Action! Southeast Asia Section of the Osaka Asian Film Festival.

“We know how much it means for a lot of people to finally share this experience together on the big screen and we feel positive that there would still be a chance for us to do so. But for now, we are happy to offer an accessible and convenient alternative for Filipino movie fans eagerly waiting to see ‘Dito at Doon,’” Rocha said.  /ra
