The Girls Love (GL) series “Pearl Next Door” (PND) will be competing among other entries in this month’s London International Web and Short Film Festival.

The IdeaFirst Company, which also created the acclaimed Boys Love series “Gameboys,” announced the good news yesterday, Jan. 19. PND will be up for the Best Web-Series accolade.

“We are thrilled to announce that ‘PEARL NEXT DOOR’ has been selected as an official entry to the London International Web and Short Film Festival! #PNDLondonWebfest,” the company posted on Facebook.

“PND,” directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal of “Gameboys” and written by Keavy Vicente, follows the story of Pearl Gatdula, played by Adrianna So.

Prior to getting her own series, So’s character was first introduced as the charming BFF of Cairo and Gavreel, played by Elijah Canlas and Kokoy de Santos, respectively, in “Gameboys,” where she is fondly referred to by fellow characters and fans as their wise, supportive and funny “mayora.”

While PND has already aired its finale last Jan. 9, producer Jun Robles Lana on Dec. 1 confirmed on Twitter that “PND” will have its own movie.

PND, one of the first GL series in the country, has been hailed for its realistic portrayal of both strong and flawed queer characters. JB
