After confirming his breakup with Andrea Torres last November, Derek Ramsay said he is still in the process of moving on.

He also took time to respond to rumors that he has a new woman in his life, stating that he actually feels “insulted” by such speculations, as per an interview on “Showbiz Talk” with Morly Alinio on DZRH yesterday, Dec. 13.

The “Better Woman” star addressed speculations made after he took a photo with a woman.

“May nagpa-picture sa akin… she’s a fitness enthusiast, super sexy, oo. Humingi siya ng picture, umoo ako. Ngayon, girlfriend ko na daw,” Ramsay said.

(Someone asked to have a picture with me… she’s a fitness enthusiast, yes she is super sexy. She asked for a picture, I said yes. Now, people say she is my girlfriend.)

Ramsay has also been linked to singer Pops Fernandez. The singer told Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist Dolly Anne Carvajal, “I really don’t know how that started.”

When Alinio asked if he felt “proud” that he was linked to various women, Ramsay replied, “Hindi, parang nakakainsulto din kasi, ‘di ba?” (No, it seems insulting, right?)

“Ako, very proud ako sa pamilya ko, tapos ginaganun-ganun nila. It reflects on who my family is, kung paano ako pinalaki,” he reasoned in the interview.

(I am very proud of my family, then they just do that. It reflects on who my family is, how I was raised.)

He said he knew that “it comes with the territory” as a celebrity, but that such rumors are still hurtful.

“Actually, nabuntis ko na daw ang buong Pilipinas, e, parang ganoon na nga, e. Makikita na lang siguro natin in nine months,” he quipped. “At sana naman, ang mga bashers, after nine months na makita nila na hindi totoo iyong mga sinabi nila, mag-sorry na lang sila, sana.”

(Actually, they say I have already impregnated the entire Philippines, it seems that it is like that. We will see, maybe in nine months. And hopefully, the bashers say sorry nine months later after they see that what they said is not true.)

It appears Ramsay is still reeling from his breakup and is relying on his friends and family as he tries to move on.

“Mahirap to move on especially kapag sobrang ang laki ng in-invest mo. Alam naman natin lahat iyan,” he added.

(It is hard to move on especially when you have invested so much. We all know that.)

“It’s taking a lot of time for me because, you know, that relationship was very different from all the others,” he noted. “Pero (But) you know, you have to move on.”

“My friends, my family, they keep me strong and they keep me positive,” Ramsay added. “So ako, tsini-cherish ko na lang iyong good times na nangyari (So I cherish all the good times that happened), and we all have to move on.”

Ramsay and Torres admitted they had “feelings for each other” in September 2019, months after they began working on the GMA Teleserye “The Better Woman” in April.

The actor stressed that there was no third party in their breakup and that it “happened so fast.” Niña V. Guno/JB
