Experience a new cinematic experience with GMovies and UPSTREAM
One of the ways Filipinos entertain themselves is going to the cinema to watch the latest Hollywood blockbuster. Part of the thrill is the rush of getting tickets, the smell of popcorn, and seeing the latest trailers. Sadly, the pandemic has shut down theaters, cutting off this magical experience.
Movie theaters may still be closed but Globe is recreating the cinema through GMovies, so customers can entertain themselves in the comfort of their homes.
GMovies was originally used as a booking service for cinemas but with strict social distancing protocols in place, it expanded its services to include streaming on demand. The digital booking platform partnered with video on demand (VOD) platform UPSTREAM to bring an exciting cinematic experience to Filipino homes everywhere.
To watch new and classic movies, they must simply go to the website, click on the movie they want to watch, and pay via GCash or debit or credit card. It only takes a few minutes to get movie night started, and they don’t have to dress up, brave the traffic, and risk running out of tickets when going to a cinema.
Families also have the convenience to choose where to watch. They can watch the film on their computer or laptop, or download the app so they can watch it on a smartphone or tablet. They can also connect their mobile device to a smart TV for an immersive viewing event. Pro tip: prepare some popcorn for the ultimate movie experience.
For its first collection, GMovies and UPSTREAM partnered for 14 on 14, where families can rent 14 Filipino titles for five days for just P1 per film. The films are a mix of classic and contemporary titles across various genres, like Ang Babaeng Putik, Bala at Lipstick, Bihagin: Bilibid Boys, Daddy’s Little Darlings, Dahas, Diliryo, Inday Bote at ang Mahiwagang Bibe, Rakenrol, Shake, Rattle and Roll 3, Starzan: Shouting Star of the Jungle, Sinungaling Mong Puso, The Debutantes, Woke Up Like This, and Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
GMovies and UPSTREAM are also the exclusive streaming platform of QCinema, Quezon City’s official film festival that screens titles from around the world. Viewers can catch films from Poland, South Korea, Mexico, Japan, the Philippines, and more from November 27 to December 6, 2020. This will be followed by a retrospective of past films from the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) from December 7 to 24, followed by the actual festival starting December 25.
GMovies will introduce more Filipino titles and international films so that they can reach a wider audience, especially during the pandemic. With the movie theater right at home, families can recreate the cinema experience at any time, anywhere.
