Sharon Cuneta defended how she raised her firstborn, KC Concepcion, after remarks made about the distance between them.
The Megastar attracted comments about her and Concepcion when she reposted a family photo shared by fan account @megatitas last Wednesday, Dec. 2. The picture was of her with her late mother, Elaine Gamboa, and her three daughters, Concepcion, Frankie and Miel Pangilinan.
The said fan account replied to Cuneta’s post: “Laki din ako sa lola (I was also raised by my grandma)…so I probably understand KC more than most here.”
“It took a while for me to have a close relationship with my Mama kasi ang loyalty ko sa lola and Lolo ko (my loyalty was with my grandma and grandpa),” the account added. “Praying for healing and reconciliation.”
In response, Cuneta stressed, “We were VERY CLOSE even if I was working all the time. That’s also [the] difference. I still found and made time for her.”
“Oh, and I NEVER left her with my parents. We all lived together,” she clarified.
Just days before, last Nov. 30, Concepcion shared on Instagram some of her favorite memories with her Mita Elaine.
“[While] Mom was at work, my Mita Elaine always loved to dress me up,” she recalled, noting that her love for fashion came from her grandmother.
After Cuneta spoke up on how she raised her first daughter, Concepcion took to Instagram on Thursday, Dec. 3, to thank her mom for a few gifts.
“Super appreciate all the little things we do for each other ma, love you,” she wrote.
Last January, a rift between mother and daughter went public, with Cuneta pleading for her daughter to “come back” after she missed her 54th birthday celebration.
Cuneta was 19 when she had Concepcion, and told critics that even at her young age, she did not rely on her parents, except to help care for her first child.
By March, it appeared that the two had made up as Cuneta promoted her daughter’s YouTube channel. JB
