Rocco Nacino and his girlfriend Melissa Gohing planted trees to “give back to Mother Nature” and help lessen the impact of future typhoons.
The couple placed their tree seedlings in the Mount Purro Nature Reserve in Antipolo, as per Nacino’s Instagram post yesterday, Nov. 17.
“Another first for us, and syempre [hardinero] feels ako dito (of course I feel like a gardener here)!” the actor said.
“Made it a point to give back to Mother Nature for protecting us from strong winds and rains,” he explained. “Yes, the last typhoon did a lot of damage, but it could have been worse if we didn’t have all these trees to lessen the impact of typhoons.”
He then urged others to try their hand at planting as well to care for the environment.

Gohing also noted that planting trees to “give back to Mother Nature” was one of her birthday wishes. The volleyball athlete turned a year older last Oct. 21.
She then pointed out that the nature reserve is located at the foothills of the Sierra mountain range, which has been called the backbone of Luzon for serving as a natural shield against typhoons and storm surges.
“Let us protect Luzon’s biggest nature shield from illegal loggers who shamelessly chopped trees even in a reforestation area,” Gohing said. “Plant more trees!”
