Maritoni Fernandez marks 20th year as breast cancer survivor: ‘I am deeply grateful’
Maritoni Fernandez reflected on her journey as a breast cancer survivor as she marked her 20th year of being cancer-free.
“Today I had my mammogram, sonogram and tomography done,” she said on her Instagram page last Tuesday, Oct. 6. She also posted a photo of her wearing a face mask while undergoing a routine checkup.
“I am a [20-year] survivor and you’d think I’m used to the drill by now but every [checkup] still brings with it a flood of emotions,” Fernandez pointed out.

“I know it’s [COVID-19] and all but don’t delay your [checkups]. Set an appointment and go get it done,” Fernandez stated. “You can safely go as long as you prepare properly.”
The actress also stressed how “nothing matters more than your own peace of mind” and added that easy detection is the key to surviving breast cancer.
