Daniel Craig to next James Bond actor: ‘Don’t f*ck it up’
Daniel Craig did not mince his words when giving advice to whoever will take on the iconic role of James Bond after him.
The actor, who has portrayed the fictional spy in four films, shared some wisdom to his successor on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The program posted a clip of the interview on its YouTube page on Oct. 5.
When Jimmy Fallon asked Craig if he had any words for the next actor chosen to be James Bond, he said: “Don’t f*ck it up.”
“It’s a beautiful, amazing thing,” he added. “It’s like, don’t f*ck it up. Leave it better than when you found it.”
Fallon then laughed and praised Craig’s brief message, saying, “That’s great!”
The TV host also asked Craig to pick his top three favorite songs from the Bond soundtracks. The actor stated that the tunes he likes the most are “Skyfall” by Adele, “Goldeneye” by Tina Turner and “Nobody Does It Better” by Carly Simon.
Craig then revealed that he had a “massive, massive” crush on Simon when he was a kid, which is one of the reasons why he favors her song.
However, Fallon did not include the latest Bond theme by Billie Eilish called “No Time to Die” in the choices. The said track is the main theme for the next film of the same title.
Craig later shared a clip from the upcoming film, which showed him jumping off a stone bridge to escape his pursuers.
“No Time to Die” is the latest installment in the British spy franchise. It is also the fifth and last time Craig will take up the mantle of 007.
The movie was originally set to be released worldwide last April, but the producers postponed it to April 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to “No Time to Die,” Craig played the popular British spy character in “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Skyfall” and “Spectre.” /ra
