A healthy and glowing Iza Calzado reunited with the nurses from the Asian Hospital and Medical Center who helped her fight COVID-19.
The actress said she is “forever grateful” to her doctors and nurses, as seen on her Instagram page on Sunday, July 5. Calzado was hospitalized for pneumonia last March. Her manager later confirmed that she tested positive for the coronavirus, but was soon able to recover from the disease.
“Allow me to shine the spotlight on my amazing team of nurses (missing a few though!) from Asian Hospital who gave me the best love and care any patient could ever ask for,” Calzado said. “Together with my brilliant doctors, I really couldn’t have asked for a better team to help me fight and beat [COVID-19].”
The actress posed twice with her nurses in a series of photos: in one, they are all smiles facing the camera; in another, they are all wearing their face masks.
Since surviving the disease, Calzado has been active in spreading awareness about the virus to prevent others from contracting it. The actress has demonstrated how to create an improvised face mask. She also donated her blood plasma to Philippine General Hospital (PGH), for COVID-19 patients with severe cases of the disease.
Calzado previously called for the removal of stigma on COVID-19 patients. The actress also wishes for better healthcare access for everybody. JB
