Acclaimed Broadway actress and singer Lea Salonga threw her support for ABS-CBN CEO and president Carlo Katigbak, who has been representing the media company in Congress as it seeks a franchise renewal.
She praised him for his leadership amid the struggles of ABS-CBN since it was shut down in May, following a cease-and-desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
“I can vouch for this man’s grace. In the few times that I’ve met him, he’s been nothing but filled with grace and calm, and always with a smile on his face,” Salonga said on Twitter yesterday, July 5.
I can vouch for this man’s grace. In the few times that I’ve met him, he’s been nothing but filled with grace and calm, and always with a smile on his face. As much as I fear that things won’t go the way of ABS-CBN, this much I know: 1/2 pic.twitter.com/rM2EZMPNfF

“As much as I fear that things won’t go the way of ABS-CBN, this much I know: [he] will continue to lead without acting the bully or throwing his weight around.”
“This is the kind of leader I resonate with, the kind of leader I follow, the kind of leader I aspire to be. Whatever happens, Carlo, I lift you up and support you,” Salonga declared.
ABS-CBN has been hit with another set of cease-and-desist orders from the NTC last June 30, this time targeting channels Sky Direct and TV Plus.
Katigbak’s calm demeanor caught the public’s attention in the Senate hearing last February that covered the media giant’s franchise issues. Admiration for him led comedian Vice Ganda to remind people that Katigbak was already married. JB
