Growing up does not have to mean growing old as well — this is one key recipe for a good life that Michael V stands by and he is advising fellow adults to absorb it as well.
The multitalented comedian, a huge fan of toys and hit Japanese anime “Voltes V”, explained why one should not let his inner child die through a “#BitoyStory” vlog on YouTube yesterday, June 15.
“‘Pag nagma-mature tayo, parang nao-obliga tayong kalimutan ‘yung pagiging bata eh. Mas lumalaki raw tayo, mas lumalaki ‘yung mga problema, mas lumalaki ‘yung mga responsibalidad,” the 50-year-old comedian said.
(While we mature, it is as if we are obligated to forget how it is to be a child. They say that as we grow up, our problems and responsibilities get bigger.)
(And when that happens, lots of things can go right past us. When we were kids, we never let anything to just pass by. That is why our days seemed longer then, right? Because everything was a big deal for us then.)
Michael V then helped fans remember the feeling of “first times” when they were a child, such as seeing a rainbow for the first time, seeing the lights inside a refrigerator go out before the door closes and playing in the rain for the first time, among many other things.
While these experiences seem like they are just entertaining to children, Michael V begs to differ — these incidents still exist, but adults just ignore them more often than not.
(Believe it or not, there are still a lot of those things around us. But because we are now proud, matured people, we cannot enjoy the little things anymore.)
(People say we do not play anymore because we are growing old. But the truth is, we grow old because we do not play anymore. I hope you do not let your inner child die. Do not be childish, but have the heart of a child. So that we can enjoy even the smallest things, no matter how worthless they may seem to others, because what is important is that we find things that make us happy.)
Michael V also told the story of his love for “Voltes V” and how his toy collection came to be. In the vlog, he also unboxed a new action figure of the famous robot.
Being a naughty and playful child, he said one thing his parents used to do to calm him down is to allow him to watch the television. It was then that Michael V discovered “Voltes V”, which until this day he is undoubtedly a huge fan of.
Staying true to his message, the comedian ended the vlog with him and his family playing in the rain, all beaming and happy, just like children enjoying the downpour for the first time. JB
