Rica Peralejo celebrated her son Manu’s first birthday with an intimate picnic-themed party in the United States amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peralejo, her husband, Joseph Bonifacio, and their first child, Philip, were all smiles as they posed with baby Manu and his birthday spread outdoors. The actress also penned a heartfelt message for Manu, which she posted on her Instagram page yesterday, June 9.

Addressing her son, Peralajo said, “You had your party here in the U.S. when we should have been home two months ago.”

Peralejo and her family flew to the US last March before lockdowns were imposed due to the spread of the coronavirus. The doting mother then spoke about her child’s favorite food and first words.

“Not a surprise you know names and labels, because you live for the joy of connecting with those who are around you,” she added.

While Peralejo pointed out how Manu does not like to sleep much and it takes some time for him to get tired, she stressed Manu’s fondness for cuddling.

“You welcome the tickles and you do not hesitate to receive all the love. People are drawn to you because you are first drawn to them.”

Peralejo also cited how one of Manu’s aunts had one word for him before his birth: adventure. The actress agreed that Manu was bound to go on many trips, but noted that he was already an adventure himself.

“And how blessed is your Mama who is so up for the ride!” she said while jokingly comparing him to white water rafting.

Peralejo then quipped about how Manu already has so many friends at age 1, referring to the many greetings he received from Peralejo’s friends and fans.

“Ako (me), I started having them at mga 28 years of age,” she said in jest.

“You are a fresh and new addition to Mama, [my darling]. You enrich my life. You’ve ‘saved’ it a couple of times, too,” Peralejo added. “What a necessary life you have right there, World Changer.”

Peralejo gave birth to Manu in June last year after experiencing 25 hours of labor at home without medication.  /ra
