A director on “Make It with You” starring Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil has explained why the show had to be axed while other ABS-CBN shows make a comeback.

Theodore Boborol, a director of the series, voiced his understanding of the decision to cancel the show.

“ABS-CBN was already badly hit by the pandemic, and then suffered a double blow when its renewal was not granted. Decisions had to be made and we respect and understand why it ought to be done,” he said via Twitter on Friday, June 5.

“Believe me. It was also difficult for everyone. #IbalikAngABSCBN,” he wrote in another tweet.

When one fan (@Zeny83098691) asked why “Make It with You” could not go on as other shows have, Boborol answered, “The returning dramas have multiple episodes already in the can even before the pandemic hit.”

Soberano’s manager, Ogie Diaz, confirmed on Friday that the show would no longer continue.

The LizQuen series saw Gil as Gabo, a businessman poised to take over his family’s empire, and Soberano as Billy, a strong-willed girl from the province who helps care for her family after her mom died. They meet in Croatia and sparks fly, but tensions rise when they come back to the Philippines as they decide over their priorities on work and love.

Though ABS-CBN is still off-air after the National Telecommunications Commission issued a cease-and-desist order, other Kapamilya shows are making a return on a new channel via cable and satellite TV on June 13. JB
