Amid the quarantine, hip-hop star Loonie (real name: Marlon Peroramas) will be launching free online rap classes through the “Looniebersidad: Rap Academy.”
Those interested may watch Loonie’s YouTube channel as classes will be starting soon, he announced via Facebook yesterday, June 4.
“Classes to open this June 2020! #FreeEducationForAll,” the rapper said.
Loonie last April teased about holding online rap classes, saying fans had been requesting for the content as they remain on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rapper last month held a livestream under “Looniebersidad,” which turned out to be his first online rap class, during which he gave tips and tutorials on several aspects of the craft.
He has also been posting “Break It Down” videos wherein he reviews songs and rap battles of his colleagues and friends in the local hip-hop scene and the famous FlipTop Battle League.
Amid the pandemic-induced quarantine, Loonie has also helped the most affected sectors of society by holding the donation drive #KapitLangReliefProgram. He started out by donating food and basic necessities to tricycle drivers at the onset of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon in March.
The rapper last January was freed from the Makati City Jail after posting a P2-million bail. He was arrested in September, along with four other persons, for allegedly selling kush or high-grade marijuana to an undercover police officer.
He has since created the rap song “Wag Ka Magdodroga,” which advises fans to never try drugs. Through the song he shared his experience of getting hooked on vices and also countered claims that he had sold marijuana. /ra
