YouTube vlogger Emman Nimedez begins chemotherapy for leukemia
Video creator Emman Nimedez has started undergoing chemotherapy days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of blood cancer.
Nimedez also revealed that he had developed pneumonia prior to starting his treatment, as per a vlog post on his YouTube channel last Monday, June 1.
Since pneumonia can be caused by the coronavirus, doctors had classified Nimedez as a person under investigation (PUI). This prompted medical staff to test him for the presence of the virus, which pushed back the initial start of his chemotherapy.
Two days after, he tested negative for the coronavirus. He also underwent x-rays to ensure that he was free of pneumonia before finally being able to start his chemotherapy.
Nimedez then described the treatment as the start of his fight while ensuring his fans that he is facing it with their prayers and well-wishes in mind.

Nimedez also pointed out that his initial chemotherapy would last for seven days. If his blood count is not too low after the first round of treatment, he added that he may be allowed to return home to rest.
As the clip ended, Nimedez also expressed his gratitude over his song “Teka Lang” receiving over 12 million views on YouTube. He then noted that he would try to come up with a new song while in the hospital.
Nimedez has been creating videos since 2011. Among some of his most viral videos are his parodies of popular TV shows such as the hit K-drama “Goblin.” /ra
