As ABS-CBN remains closed, Angelica Panganiban says goodbye to ‘Banana Sundae’
As ABS-CBN operations remain closed, actress Angelica Panganiban has bid farewell to her “Banana Sundae” family after almost 12 years on air together.
Panganiban took to Instagram yesterday, June 1, to lament how they had to part ways and lose their “home” during these dark times.
Masyadong masakit na makitang durog na durog tayong lahat,” she said.
(We have been making other people laugh and feel good for almost 12 years. For the first time ever, a while ago, all of us were crying. It is too painful to see how shattered we are now.)

(It hurts because many among us now do not know how to continue living anymore. It hurts because we will now have to go our separate ways. All the hurtful words you throw at us to degrade and mock us are nothing compared to what we are all feeling now.)
Panganiban emphasized that they do not know anymore how to fight back and where to get the strength to do so, adding that they would like to think that all this is just temporary.
“Gusto naming isipin na pansamantala lang ‘to. Magkikita kita ulit tayo.
(We like to think that this is temporary. We will all see each other again. We want to fight for our colleagues at work. We want to fight for our families. We would like to finally have peace from our inquiries.)
“Pero kahit ganito, lalaban kami. Magtutulungan kami. Kapag nakabalik kami, sigurado akong mas malakas kami,” the actress added.
(However, even if this is how it is now, we will fight. We will work together. When we return, I am sure that we will be stronger than ever.)
Panganiban also lamented that while before they would always ask viewers, “Okay ba kayo dyan (are you okay)?” now, it is they who are not okay.
(Until next time, our kabananas (Banana Sundae supporters). Thank you for the almost 12 years. I love you very much.)
In a hearing last week, the National Telecommunications Commission admitted that Solicitor General Jose Calida’s quo warranto petition against the ABS-CBN was what prompted the commission to order the media giant’s closure.
Congress has yet to decide whether to give ABS-CBN a grant or to renew its franchise as hearings are still ongoing regarding the Kapamilya network’s fate. /ra
