Celebrity dermatologist Vicki Belo gave an inside look on her vows with husband Hayden Kho nearly three years since they tied the knot.
“[Never-before-seen] footage of our wedding vows (we had asked guests to please not video the ceremony), officiated by Ravi Zacharias who we miss so dearly. We’ve finally released it after more than 2 years,” Belo said on Instagram yesterday, May 30.
The YouTube video posted on May 29 comes after Zacharias, the couple’s spiritual advisor, passed away on May 19.
Belo and Kho had a glamorous wedding in Paris on September 2, 2017 that included a star-studded guest list. Those in attendance witnessed the two become emotional as they revealed their insecurities and the reasons they love each other in their vows.
“You are very gentle, kind and extremely generous, and meeting you I feel very cherished and loved. You’re also extremely protective so I feel very safe with you,” said Belo. “You are my Superman who comes to my rescue whenever I get myself into trouble. I know that with you around, Scarlet and I are always going to be safe, of course with God’s help and protection.”
Belo highlighted how spoiled she was by Kho: “I see how devoted you are in making me happy. That you are always thinking of surprises to make me smile, whether it is giving me my favorite flowers, peonies, or cooking for me by following internet instructions and searching around the world for the best whitening products from Japan or Korea.”
She added too that he would give her luxury goods, like her “first Buccellati earrings” and “first Birkin” handbag.
Belo became emotional as she talked about how he helped her with her self-image. She recounted, “When I was at my ugliest, when I couldn’t even look at the mirror because I was so ugly in my mind, I would look at my reflection in your eyes and you’d always make me feel beautiful and desirable.”
“I promise to be your number one cheerleader and supporter. Not only because I am your wife but because I believe in your brilliance. I admire you,” she emphasized.
“Even if I don’t know how to cook, and I know food is important to you, I promise I will hire good cooks,” she quipped, drawing laughter from guests.
Kho previously shared his vows in October 2017 on Instagram, where he was tearful as he delivered his message.
“To be honest, until now, I really don’t know what you see in me. You know that when I look at myself in the mirror I find nothing attractive, nothing desirable. You know that I always feel unworthy of love,” he said. “When you look at me, you see so much. You see the man that I can only hope to be. Man of talents and heart, kindness and potential for great things.”
“But when I look at you, Vicki, I only see love. Yes, your looks are lovely, your eyes sparkling, your body, I wanted to say seductive, but Sir Ravi said to change it to ‘irresistibly alluring,’” he said. “But honestly when I close my eyes and think of you, what I see — no, what I feel — is love.”
“Walang iwanan (We will stick by each other)… Sometimes even if you’re bratty and difficult and hard to love. I will never not love you,” he said.
“And I will be your forever ‘kakampi’ (supporter),’” he promised. “Even if I lose the friendship of everyone else, I will be on your side, by your side, and we will sort things out together as we trust God.”
“Yesterday you asked me how I know I love you. My answer is this. I know I love you because I can’t live without you,” Kho concluded.
Their pairing was initially controversial in part because of their age gap of over 20 years and Kho’s involvement in a 2009 sex video scandal which for a time resulted in the revocation of his medical license and personal turmoil. However, renewed by their Christian faith, and after more than a decade in a relationship and a daughter, Scarlet Snow, they have shown that theirs is a love to last. JB
