WATCH: Olaf from ‘Frozen’ helps people cope with isolation through new song ‘I Am With You’
For those who are feeling the quarantine blues, Disney Animation has created a special tribute sang by one of the most beloved characters in the animated film “Frozen”, to send the message that people are not alone during the COVID-19 crisis.
The friendly snowman Olaf, voiced and given life by actor Josh Gad, serenaded the viewers with a new song “I Am With You”, as seen on Walt Disney Animation Studios’s YouTube channel today, May 14.
The music and lyrics of the song were written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who are also responsible for creating the songs in “Frozen”. Dan Abraham directed the music video.
Gad, who sang Olaf’s song from his home, expressed his excitement to share this “love letter to all.”
“I am so unbelievably grateful to share this message with all of you,” he said.

The music video of “I Am With You” also shows some of Disney’s most beloved animated characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Alice from “Alice in Wonderland”, Moana, Tiana from “Princess and the Frog”, Belle from “Beauty and the Beast”, Lilo and Nani from “Lilo and Stich”, Pocahontas and many more.
At the beginning of the video, Olaf stares off into the distance, all alone. After a while, he decides to go back inside and write a letter. When he finished writing, he asked Gale, an air spirit from “Frozen 2”, to deliver his message.
Through the song, Olaf emphasized that caring between people do not stop when they are apart.
“I am with you with this letter/ I am with you with this song/ I am with you when you laugh at something silly I did wrong,” Olaf sang. “Who cares about our whereabouts/ I’m here and you are there/ But I’m with you/ And I care.”
Recently, some of the biggest names in the music industry became a part of a televised event where they sang some of Disney’s most popular songs for viewers at home. Some of the singers who performed in the “Disney Family Singalong” were Gad, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Alan Menken, Josh Groban, Darren Criss and Tori Kelly. JB
