Tom Rodriguez to join livestream to honor late director Peque Gallaga

Tom Rodriguez will be joining a livestream to pay tribute to the late filmmaker Peque Gallaga at 8 p.m. today, May 13.

Gallaga passed away last Thursday, May 7, due to cardiopulmonary arrest. He was 76.

The event is titled “Remembering PEQUE ‘El Pogi’” and will stream on a Facebook page called Remembering Peque Gallaga, as per Rodriguez’s Instagram post yesterday, May 12.

The actor also encouraged others to join the livestream to “pay tribute to the epitome of a true collaborator, a man whose work has inspired [him] to imagine, dream and pursue the path towards creativity.”

After learning of Gallaga’s death, Rodriguez joined other actors in remembering the late director. The actor shared a photo of him and Gallaga on what seems to be a production set.

“[We] lost not just a mere LEGEND, but a BEACON of this industry who relished in seeing others around him shine brightly,” Rodriguez said. “A man who never shied away from chasing the highs and lows of creativity whilst enjoying the pursuit of it all.”

Rodriguez also called him a “true visionary” alongside fellow director Lore Reyes and production manager Jo Macasa, who both often worked with Gallaga. After expressing his sympathy for Gallaga’s loved ones, Rodriguez said, “How I wish I could watch you work again.”

Rodriguez previously starred in Gallaga’s 2014 horror film “T’yanak” alongside Judy Ann Santos, Solenn Heussaff and Sid Lucero.

Aside from “T’yanak,” Gallaga is also well known for his 1982 film “Oro, Plata, Mata,” the 1985 erotic thriller “Scorpio Nights” and co-directing the 1996 fantasy-adventure film “Magic Temple” with Reyes.  /ra
