Singers and real-life couple Moira Dela Torre and Jason Hernandez utilized their musical talents to convey a message of hope amid the COVID-19 pandemic with their new song “May Pag-asa.”

Dela Torre and Hernandez dedicated the song to frontline workers and first responders to acknowledge their efforts in the ongoing health crisis. The couple released the song’s music video via Dela Torre’s YouTube channel last Thursday, May 7.

“Mula sa aming lahat, maraming salamat sa araw-araw na pagpili sa amin,” Dela Torre said. “Patuloy po kaming mananalangin para sa inyong kalusugan. Mahal namin kayo. Salamat.”

(From all of us, thank you [frontliners] for choosing us every day. We will continue praying for your good health. We love you. Thank you.)

The music video showed some of these modern-day heroes in action. Aside from healthcare workers, government officials, police officers and military forces manning the checkpoints, the tribute showed other essential workers including grocery store employees, fast-food crew, food delivery drivers, market vendors, gasoline station employees, garbage disposal crew and COVID-19 relief operations volunteers.

Those who are required to stay at home also expressed their gratitude to these workers by showing their homemade posters thanking the frontliners.

The slow acoustic song highlighted the richness of the two singers’ voices in relaying the song’s message.

“Sana’y malamang nakikita ko / mga pawis at luha na inalay mo,” the two sang in harmony. “At sayong pag-hihirap / dumadaloy sayo ang pag-asa / salamat ng dahil sayo.”

(I hope you know that I see / all the sweat and tears you offered / and in your sacrifices / hope flows in you / we are grateful because of you.)

Similarly, actress Yassi Pressman uplifted frontline workers’ spirits during these challenging times by singing a song titled “Kaya Natin To.”

Dela Torre and Hernandez were married January 2019 in a garden wedding in Tagaytay City.
