Twitter stans ‘competent’ Vico Sotto, thanks mother Coney Reyes
As the country confronts the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the public could not help but air their disappointments regarding the government’s measures of containing the disease.
On the local level, people are calling out their officials for lack of action on responding to urgent needs during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
However, one local government official has stood out and has been praised by his constituents for how he has been handling the fight against COVID-19 in his city. Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto is trending on Twitter as netizens have been commending his competence and strategies.
The good feedback apparently is coming not just from his constituents but also from other public figures.
Singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel and actor Vance Larena are among those who expressed their amazement and support.

Broadcast journalist Karen Davila also commended Sotto for allocating “P100 [million] for food packs for their 30 barangays.”

Davila’s statement then drew a comment from Sen. Panfilo Lacson, who took note of the mayor’s youth and called him “the best gift ever to Pasig.”

With all the praises “Vico” has been receiving, netizens could not help but credit his mother, actress and born-again Christian Coney Reyes, for “raising her son so well.”
Reyes’s name also trended on Twitter yesterday, March 18, after some netizens connected her son’s attributes with her on-screen daughters in her hit movie “Four Sisters and a Wedding” in 2013.
Comments stated that since Reyes raised Bobbie Salazar (played by Bea Alonzo), it should be no wonder that the mayor grew up as also “thoughtful and selfless” like Bobbie. Meanwhile, still alluding to the movie, some jested that Reyes’s favorite is not Teddy after all (played by Toni Gonzaga), but should be no other than her real-life son Vico Sotto. JB
