Cristine Reyes was hailed as best actress during the 40th Oporto International Film Festival in Porto, Portugal, for her performance in 2019 thriller-drama “UnTrue.”

Viva Entertainment congratulated the actress and shared the good news to fans via Instagram last Sunday, March 8.

“Congratulations to our very own, Cristine Reyes for winning the ‘BEST ACTRESS’ award at the recent ‘OPORTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL’ in her portrayal of MARA in the film UNTRUE!” the film agency said.

“We’re very proud of you, @cristinereyes ! Congrats #TeamUntrue Direk @sigridandreapbernardo,” it added.

Reyes played the bar helper Mara Villanueva alongside Xian Lim’s Joaquim Castro in a twisted tale of romance set in Tbilisi, Georgia. “UnTrue” was written and directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo (Kita Kita).

“UnTrue” tells the story of a battered wife (Reyes), an overseas Filipino worker in Georgia, who sets out to seek the help of police and escape her abusive businessman husband (Lim).

Ai-ai delas Alas and Ina Raymundo also won the best actress award in last year’s Oporto International Film Festival for their performances in “School Service” (Delas Alas) and “Kuya Wes” (Raymundo).  /ra
