Kris Aquino opens up on relationship with sisters: ‘Mom must be smiling now’

Veteran actress Kris Aquino has opened up about her relationship with her sisters as she received greetings from them on her 49th birthday yesterday, Feb. 14.
The Queen of All Media revealed that although she does not post on social media any of their quarrels, she admitted that they did go through some, but seemed to have managed to work it all out.
“It’s still my birthday so my sisters will forgive me for sharing with all of you what they wrote me for this birthday,” she said in an Instagram post of the said letters she got for her birthday.
“[I] promised myself that you won’t read about our internal disputes, ‘tampuhans,’ and misunderstandings… but [I] felt it was worthwhile to tell you we did go through some hurtful times from when [I] had my autoimmune diagnosis until recently,” she added.

The actress added that she gives “100% credit” to her “Ate,” referring to eldest sister Ballsy Cruz, for keeping her promise to their late mother, Cory Aquino, that she would do her best to keep the sisters united.
“Our mom must be smiling now, because her daughters have made the steps to communicate more, support and understand each other, and respect that we will have differences,” she said.
Aquino noted that her sisters are very private persons, and that she never posted on social media that they have had difficult times, saying: “[T]hank God [I] was wise enough to keep everything to myself.”
“[I’m] sure you also weren’t blind to notice that it was always my Ate [I] mentioned, that’s because [I] chose to remain truthful & didn’t share details best kept within our family,” she said.
The actress then went on to say that she and her sisters have their mother to thank for why they are inspired to strive to be good mothers themselves.
“Aquino man kami, pero parehong pareho tayo – mga miyembro ng mga pamilya na nagmamahalan, nagkakatampuhan, lumalayo ng panandalian, pero sa huli nangingibabaw ang mataas na respeto sa alaala sa ating mga magulang,” Aquino emphasized.
(Aquinos we may be, but we are all the same – we are members of families that love each other, have quarrels, and sometimes avoid each other, but in the end, our high respect for our parents prevails.)
“Siguro para sa aming mga magkakapatid na babae – yung malalim na pagmamahal at paghanga sa mommy namin – yun ang pinaghuhugutan namin ng lakas at gabay sa pagsusumikap na maging mapagmahal, responsable, at mapagbigay na mga nanay… there is no ‘support system’ STRONGER than having sisters,” she added.
(Maybe for us sisters, our deep love and admiration for our mother are what we draw strength from and guide us in striving to be loving, responsible and generous mothers.)
As the Queen of All Media’s birthday is also Valentine’s Day, she encouraged her fans to show their love and appreciation to their sisters and mothers as well.
“Today is a celebration of LOVE. If you’re blessed to still have your MOM – embrace her. If you have sisters, remind them just how much they mean to you,” she said.
“This BUNSO would like to tell my Ate, Pinky, and Viel – THANK YOU for loving me even when it’s been difficult, and for still believing that there’s a rainbow after all these storms… [I] love you very much, [I] am BLESSED to be Cory’s daughter, and BLESSED to be Ballsy, Pinky, and Viel’s baby sister,” she ended.
Aquino earlier revealed that she would be away on a wellness retreat for her 49th birthday to focus on her health and have both physical and emotional healing. /ra
