As Kris Aquino turns 49 years old today, Feb. 14, the superstar announced that she would be away on a “relatively long” wellness retreat for physical and emotional healing.

Although she said she was going on this journey privately, the Queen of All Media opted to give fans a short video of her birthday celebration with friends and family to show gratitude, and opened up about how she is striving to become healthier on Instagram yesterday, Feb. 13.

i wasn’t supposed to be home… i gave several natural wellness treatments my open mind, #nocomplaining #noexplaining… just THANK YOU to my neurologist Dr Piano for being here at home at 1:30 AM to check on my neck, migraine attack, and back & right arm spasms.. anyway, what’s important is i want to be HEALTHY & nobody wanted me to spend a birthday w/ little movement. My sons & my staff went the distance to make me feel their love & appreciation… how could i not post this gratitude video? The background song i chose is “KINTSUGI” by Gabrielle Aplin. i am inspired by Japanese culture. i looked for a summary of what KINTSUGI is about, found it on nbcnews.com and will share with you why it’s the guiding principle shining a light on my life NOW. “Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the "scars" as a part of the design. Using this as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more unique, beautiful and resilient.” As i enter the last year of my 40s, i’ve learned so much from the pain of life’s mistakes- some caused by me, and some i was just collateral damage BUT they are a part of my totality. Yet i believe in a God of many chances, Who sees that our scars are the HEALING or HEALED portions of our humanity, and that there’s HOPE because today in itself is already His gift. i never questioned Him when all my prayers were answered, so now i continue to learn, to simply TRUST.

Aquino talked about her fascination with Japanese culture and “kintsugi,” the centuries-old Japanese art of repairing pottery by mending broken pieces together with lacquer mixed with gold or silver dust.

The actress noted that the meaning behind kintsugi is the guiding principle “shining a light” on her life right now, and quoted an article from NBC on April 28, 2018, describing the Japanese art.

“Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the ‘scars’ as a part of the design,” Aquino quoted the article.

“Using this as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more unique, beautiful and resilient,” the quote went on.

Aquino stressed that as she enters the last year of her 40s, she has already “learned so much from the pain of life’s mistakes.”

“Some caused by me, and some i was just collateral damage BUT they are a part of my totality,” she emphasized.

“Yet [I] believe in a God of many chances, Who sees that our scars are the HEALING or HEALED portions of our humanity, and that there’s HOPE because today in itself is already His gift. [I] never questioned Him when all my prayers were answered, so now i continue to learn, to simply TRUST,” she added.

In another post, Aquino gave a peek at her wellness retreat and expressed her gratitude to those who reached out to her for her birthday.

“THANK YOU to all who are reaching out online & to all who have sent me thoughtful gifts, and especially for the birthday cards from my sisters & close friends w/ their words of affirmation, affection, and ENCOURAGEMENT… [I’m] going to be ‘away’ … (with no definitive timeline: [I’m] teaching myself how to embrace calm, enjoy the quiet, act patiently, and live peacefully),” she said.

“I’ll privately try to rebuild important relationships, rediscover my ‘IKIGAI’, and heal (KINTSUGI) every remaining shattered piece of me… you and i deserve nothing less than a kris aquino with only golden scars,” she added.

Ikigai is another Japanese concept that means “the reason for being,” or one’s purpose or value in life.

(picture from my interrupted birthday wellness retreat) nope- hindi po sa kin balak ipatong yung “boodle fight”… (inunahan ko na kayo) 😘🙃🥳 THANK YOU to all who are reaching out online & to all who have sent me thoughtful gifts, and especially for the birthday cards from my sisters & close friends w/ their words of affirmation, affection, and ENCOURAGEMENT… i’m going to be “away” … (with no definitive timeline: i’m teaching myself how to embrace calm, enjoy the quiet, act patiently, and live peacefully) i’ll privately try to rebuild important relationships, rediscover my “IKIGAI”, and heal (KINTSUGI) every remaining shattered piece of me… you and i deserve nothing less than a kris aquino with only golden scars. You will forever possess the most heartfelt gratitude from an almost 49 year old—because you helped make almost every childhood dream she ever had come true. That is WHY—- “and i’ll tell you all about it when I SEE YOU AGAIN.” 🌈

Aquino last week revealed her birthday gift for herself –going on a wellness retreat, which would include nature walks, relaxation yoga, introduction to meditation, aqua therapy and acupuncture, among others.

“It’s going to be a very QUIET birthday because the most meaningful gift i can give myself is TO GIVE MY ALL to strive to be the healthiest [I] can possibly be… nobody else has the power to do this BUT me,” she said.

this surprised me on my way out, THANK YOU #divinalaw… only my closest staff were aware (they made the arrangements) that i was leaving today for a relatively long, wellness birthday retreat… i’m basically on my own, except poor bincai also has to join me do the nature walks, relaxation yoga, introduction to meditation, or watch over my sessions of aqua therapy, more acupuncture etc. because i’m still on a lot of maintenance medicines plus she’s trained in case of any emergencies (na sana wag mangyari)… it’s going to be a very QUIET birthday because the most meaningful gift i can give myself is TO GIVE MY ALL to strive to be the healthiest i can possibly be… nobody else has the power to do this BUT me. This feed will go QUIET for the time being, because sometimes silence & solitude are integral to physical & emotional HEALING… for a change, this is a journey i’m taking privately- BUT i do look forward to sharing with you everything i’ll learn and gain from this new chapter of my life. Until then, LOVE, PROSPERITY, and PEACE to all! 🌈
