‘Tadhana’ live script reading reunites John Lloyd, Bea on Valentine’s Day
MANILA, Philippines — Fans of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo were in for a treat as the love team reunited on Valentine’s Day.
Cruz and Alonzo performed a live script reading of the film “That Thing Called Tadhana” at the Ayala Triangle in Makati City. Their performance was part of the Art Fair 2020 Philippines.
The film’s director, Antoinette Jadaone, was also present during the script reading.
In a video shared by the Star Cinema’s official Instagram account, Cruz, while in character, asked Alonzo that made everyone scream in excitement: “Anong kakaiba from John Lloyd? Di ko gets!” (What’s so special about John Lloyd? I don’t get it!)
“Si John Lloyd kasi, parang hindi artista eh,” Alonzo, who was reading the script, replied.
“Parang kaibigan mo siya na pwedeng mahalin ng buong-buo. Parang hindi ka niya paiiyakin; parang siya yung iiyak para sa’yo.”
(John Lloyd doesn’t act like he’s an actor. He’s like your friend that you can love wholly. It’s as if he won’t make you cry; he’ll be the one to cry for you)
“Parang hindi ka niya lolokohin. Parang siya yung tatagal kayo ng maraming-maraming taon,” the actress added.
(He won’t cheat on you. It’s as if he’s the one you’ll be spending many years with)
“That Thing Called Tadhana,” the 2014 blockbuster filled with “hugots,” originally starred Angelica Panganiban—who was Cruz’s ex-girlfriend—and JM De Guzman.
Meanwhile, Cruz and Alonzo were known to star in several Star Cinema blockbuster hits such as “One More Chance,” its sequel “A Second Chance” and “Miss You Like Crazy.” They also starred in teleseryes such as “Maging Sino Ka Man” and “I Love Betty La Fea.”
