MANILA, Philippines — Jasmine Curtis-Smith has echoed the sentiment of fellow actress Janine Gutierrez on the upcoming television comeback of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
“Let’s prioritize the stories we want to tell the people, (and who) we want to put up on the stage and showcase,” Curtis-Smith was quoted as saying in a report by entertainment site PUSH.
“Because ang mga taong nilalagay natin sa mga entabladong ‘yan, hindi lang sila entertainment, but also they are source of inspiration, so I think when it comes to choosing a cast, or stories to tell, we should be a bit more sensitive nowadays,” Curtis-Smith told PUSH in a recent interview during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars.
Curtis-Smith stars in the MMFF film Culion, together with Iza Calzado and Meryll Soriano.
GMA Network earlier announced its upcoming television shows for 2020, including “Agimat ng Agila,” which topbills the senator.
“On that case itself specifically, wala akong masabi maybe just, ‘I second you, Janine.’ Gano’n na lang,” she further said.
Earlier, Gutierrez reacted to Revilla’s upcoming television comeback with an “Oh God,” drawing the ire of Lolit Solis, who serves as Revilla’s talent manager.
“Siguro gusto ni Janine Gutierrez na mapansin ko siya (I think Janine Gutierrez wants me to notice her),” Solis said in an Instagram post.
“The nerve na mag-negative comment siya sa TV comeback ni Bong Revilla,” she added. “How can she be so cruel for a second chance to a co-actor like Bong without even thinking, if not for the goodness of people she won’t be where she is today.”

Gutierrez’ mother, actress Lotlot de Leon, defended her daughter, saying it was “kind of unfair” for artists to be judged for expressing an opinion.

“Agimat ng Agila” will mark Revilla’s first TV show since he hosted the informative show “Kap’s Amazing Stories” which ended in 2014.
Revilla was detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame for four years over plunder charges until he was acquitted by the Sandiganbayan in December 2018.
He then won a seat in the Senate at the May 2019 elections.
