Aiko on Jomari’s rift with former live-in partner

I cornered my fab “sissy” Aiko Melendez about her sentiments regarding the controversy that her ex (and father of her son, Andre), Jomari Yllana, is embroiled in. His former live-in partner, Joy, claims that Jom abandoned her and their two kids to be with another woman. Here’s Aiko’s take on the issue: “As much as I want to comment, sis, I’d rather not because Andre is already of age. Although as a mother too, like Joy, I feel that she is just fighting for her children. I hope whatever is fair should be given to her for the sake of her kids who are both so young yet.”

A mother is a mother. It’s sad when fathers go farther and farther away.

‘Yorme’ Isko’s delightful cameo

In Coco Martin’s MMFF entry “3pol Trobol: Huli Ka Balbon,” I enjoyed watching his scenes when he pretended to be a woman, Paloma. In drag and with full make-up on, he’s a look-alike of Maxine Medina. Jennylyn Mercado’s scenes as a “guy” are equally amusing. Isko Moreno’s cameo appearance in the movie is quite a delight. “Yorme” still has what it takes to be an actor.

Bela’s ‘beautiful film about love and hope’

Bela Padilla’s role in my favorite MMFF entry, “Miracle in Cell No 7,” is brief yet impactful. True to form, Bela makes her presence felt.

Here’s my chat with Bella:

In what ways did your role as the grownup Yesha remind you of your relationship with your father?

At a young age, my dad left for another country to work. I saw less of him, but we maintained our bond. Yesha too had to accept the reality that she couldn’t physically be with her dad anymore, but she still found ways to keep him “close” to her.

How did your movie impact you?

It’s a beautiful film about love and hope. I’m all for movies about positivity or those that help spread a message of hope, which is why I’m so happy to be a part of it. I hope it affects more people and uplifts those who need uplifting.

Please share your fave off-cam moment with Aga.

I didn’t have too many shooting days with him, but in the days when he was around, he always made everyone feel comfortable.

What’s one love mistake that you wish you wouldn’t make again?

I don’t have dramatic relationships. I’ve only had two boyfriends and the breakups from both were very maturely dealt with. I can safely say that if I bump into them and their girlfriends now, I wouldn’t have trouble saying hello. So there really isn’t anything I should change.

What can’t you resist in a guy?

When he can carry a good conversation.

If Santa would ask you, what’s the nicest and naughtiest thing you did this year?

Santa has long been debunked in my head (laughs).
