Bea Alonzo is among the top talents in Asia to be recognized for the Asian Star: Up Next award presented by US publication Variety with the International Film Festival and Awards – Macao (IFFAM).

The list of eight artists and performers from different parts of Asia was released yesterday, Nov. 28. “What these awards seek is to help Asia’s talent cross borders onto an international or global stage. That’s a question of ambition, and hard work to come,” Variety said in its feature.

Alonzo reacted to the accolade today on Instagram saying, “What a great feeling to be recognized along with the other stars from different Asian countries for their body of work.”

“I am beyond excited to be able to represent the Philippines in Macau this coming December,” she said.

On her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Blessing after blessing. I am just so grateful. Thank you Lord.”

Alonzo was recognized for her roles in primetime soap operas and box office hits, as well as for receiving multiple acting awards throughout her career. Her movies “The Love Affair” and “A Second Chance” were highlighted.

The actress is the only Filipino in the list, which also includes Japanese vocalist, dancer and actor Ryota Katayose, Thai pop singer Praewa Suthamphong, K-pop star Yoona, Vietnamese actor Lien Binh Phat, Indonesian actress Asmara Abigail, Indian actress Bhumi Pednekar and Thai singer and actress Jennis Oprasert.

Previous Filipino awardees are Anne Curtis and Piolo Pascual.  /ra
