The band was recognized for not only fighting plastic but also waste pollution. It was cited for its work in reviving the Pasig River. It was also mentioned that the band has pledged to reduce single-use plastic in its tours and use plastic-free instruments.

Before the band’s performance, vocalist Miguel Benjamin Guico explained that they had grown up knowing the Pasig River as having little to no wildlife and wanted to do something about it. He said that it was small actions done every day that had led to the demise of the river and that they realize “it’s also those little things collectively, every day that can bring it back to life.”

The festival included talks from wildlife filmmaker and photographer Sandesh Kadur, conservation biologist Krithi Karanth and oceanographer Sylvia A. Earle.  /ra
