LOOK: Three former ‘Lizzie McGuire’ actors to join revival
Adding to the by-now-considerable lineup of its upcoming Disney+ streaming service, Disney has just announced the reboot of “Lizzie McGuire”, a classic series from their archives, featuring no fewer than four of its original stars. The news was broken by the star of the original series herself, Hilary Duff, who announced the return of another three actors to the cast by posting a picture of them on her Instagram account.
The actress who shot to fame by playing the eponymous role will once again be joined by Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas, who respectively played the roles of Joanne, Samuel and Matthew McGuire.

If the star’s Instagram post is anything to go by, the McGuires were reunited once again for the table reading of the new series’ debut episode, 15 years after the season finale.
According to a press release by Disney, “The new story picks up as Lizzie McGuire is just about to turn 30. She seemingly has it all — her dream job as an assistant to a fancy New York City decorator, her dream guy and a picturesque Brooklyn apartment — but things aren’t always as they seem. With a little help from her friends, her loving family and her 13-year-old alter-ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood.”
Disney Channels Worldwide president and chief creative officer Gary Marsh, said, in another statement “Just like there is no Lizzie McGuire without Hilary Duff, there is no McGuire family without Hallie, Robert and Jake. The original series holds a special place in the hearts of so many, and we can’t wait to introduce fans, both old and new, to an older, wiser, yet still perfectly imperfect Lizzie.”
