Aga Muhlach on Amalia Fuentes: ‘You were an inspiration’

MANILA, Philippines — Aga Muhlach remembered his aunt, screen legend Amalia Fuentes, as an “inspiration,” adding that she has taught him “so much in life.”

“You started it all for us. You have taught me so much in life. You were an inspiration. You treated me like your son,” Muhlach said in an Instagram post Saturday.

Muhlach’s tribute comes after Fuentes succumbed to a cardiac arrest hours before. She was 79 years old.

The 90s matinee idol said that he was at a “loss for words” upon Fuentes’ passing.

“Go rest now. I know for sure that you are the happiest right now for you are at peace and most specially, reunited with ate Liezl,” he said, referring to Liezl Martinez, Fuentes’ late daughter who died in 2015.

“My growing up years was spent with you, tita. All my weekends, summer vacations, our trips to Baguio, in tali, in the states. Lahat na… Huling paalam, tita [All of it, this is my last goodbye, aunt].”

“You are with our creator now. Rest in HIS embrace. My dad, my mom, you (my 2nd mom, ate liezl who’s always been a sister to me).  I miss you all. I will miss you all forever,” he added.  /muf
