True Faith’s music vid an ode to ’80s Pinoy entertainment

True Faith

I had a blast at the music video shoot of my good friends from my fave band of all time, True Faith (TF). Watching Meds and Eugene Marfil, Allan Elgar, Macky Macaventa, Jake Lumacad and Kaka Quisumbing perform live is something I will never get tired of doing. I’ve joined TF in its Dubai and Butuan gigs. In jest, I tell people that I am the band’s backup vocalist.

The cool vid is for TF’s latest release, “Uwian Na,” from their 10th studio album “Sen+imen+al (Star Records). It’s directed by Adrian Arcega. The song (composed by the band’s vocalist (Meds) is such a “good vibes provider.” It will make you feel like grooving as you recapture memories of days gone by.

I am more than touched that TF paid tribute to my late mom (Inday Badiday) in the music vid, which is also an ode to ’80s Pinoy entertainment. I am beyond grateful to my friends from way back, Yayo Aguila, PJ Abellana and Ricky Davao for gamely joining the shoot, gratis et amore. They portrayed guests in my mom’s defunct talk show, “See True.” Miel Cabañez played my mom.

FEATURED STORIES

The shoot transported me back to the days when I watched my mom’s show live in the studio. I grew up visiting sets and witnessing “off-the-record” moments.

My reality has been formed by show business’ version of reality. It made my life a different sort of real.

The lyrics of “Uwian Na”:

Remember the time nung tayo’y sa kolehiyo

Remember the time, tayo ay may trabaho na

And now this time magkasama pa rin tayo

Ini-enjoy ang bawat araw

Pauwi na sa habangbuhay ito

Tawag mo sa ’kin ay asawa

Kahit ’di pa tayo kasal

At ngayong gabi ulitin natin

Ang sumpaan ng matibay na pag-ibig

Pagkatapos ng sine holding hands pauwi

Uwian na! Uwian na!

Magkayakap sa dilim parang di na bibitiw

Uwian na! Uwian na!

Uwian na … Tara!

Uwian na!

Uwian na … Let’s go!
